Warranty & Jewelry Repair Policy
**Last Updated: October 5, 2026**
Paul Jewelers is committed to providing quality jewelry and professional service. This policy explains the general terms applicable to jewelry inspections, repairs, alterations, and warranty-related requests.
## 1. MANUFACTURING DEFECTS
If you believe an item purchased from Paul Jewelers has a manufacturing defect, please contact us promptly and bring or send the merchandise to us for inspection.
A manufacturing defect is generally a problem resulting from the manufacture or workmanship of the item and does not include damage caused by normal wear, accidents, misuse, improper care, or outside alteration.
Paul Jewelers will inspect the merchandise before determining whether an issue qualifies for repair, replacement, another remedy under an applicable warranty, or customer-paid service.
## 2. NORMAL WEAR & TEAR
Jewelry naturally experiences wear over time.
Unless covered by a specific written warranty, normal wear and tear is not considered a manufacturing defect.
Examples may include:
- Scratches or surface wear
- Worn or bent prongs
- Chain or clasp wear
- Metal discoloration or tarnishing
- Rhodium plating wear
- Loose stones resulting from wear or impact
- Bent or misshapen jewelry
- Damage caused by accidental impact
- Damage caused by improper use or storage
## 3. LOSS OR DAMAGE TO STONES
Customers should regularly inspect fine jewelry for loose stones, worn prongs, damaged settings, and other signs of wear.
Unless expressly covered by a written warranty or required by law, Paul Jewelers does not guarantee against the loss, chipping, breaking, or damage of diamonds, gemstones, or other components caused by wear, impact, accident, misuse, or failure to maintain the jewelry.
Customers may wish to obtain appropriate jewelry insurance for loss, theft, accidental damage, and other risks.
## 4. THIRD-PARTY REPAIRS OR ALTERATIONS
Repairs, resizing, engraving, stone setting, or other alterations performed by another jeweler or third party may affect any warranty or service coverage provided by Paul Jewelers to the extent the third-party work caused or contributed to the problem.
## 5. JEWELRY REPAIRS
Paul Jewelers may offer repair services including, depending on the item:
- Ring sizing
- Prong repair
- Stone tightening
- Stone replacement
- Chain and clasp repair
- Soldering
- Polishing and refinishing

- Cleaning
- Jewelry inspection
- Other jewelry restoration services
Not every piece of jewelry can safely be repaired or altered.
We reserve the right to decline work when we reasonably believe the requested service may damage the merchandise or cannot be performed safely.
## 6. REPAIR ESTIMATES
Repair prices quoted before detailed inspection may be estimates.
If additional problems are discovered during inspection or repair, Paul Jewelers may contact the customer for approval before performing additional chargeable work.
## 7. PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS
Jewelry submitted for repair may contain pre-existing wear, loose stones, weakened metal, previous repairs, fractures, damaged settings, or other conditions that are not immediately visible.
Paul Jewelers may document the condition of merchandise when it is accepted for service.
We will exercise reasonable care while handling customer merchandise.
## 8. GEMSTONES & DELICATE MATERIALS
Certain gemstones, pearls, enamel, antique jewelry, hollow jewelry, treated gemstones, and other delicate materials may have increased risks during cleaning, polishing, sizing, soldering, or repair.
Paul Jewelers may explain known material risks before performing work when appropriate.
## 9. CUSTOMER-SUPPLIED STONES OR JEWELRY
When Paul Jewelers agrees to work on a customer's own jewelry, diamond, gemstone, watch, or other item, the customer represents that they have the legal right to authorize the requested work.
Additional conditions may apply to customer-supplied stones or merchandise.
## 10. REPAIR COMPLETION TIMES
Any estimated completion date is an estimate unless Paul Jewelers specifically guarantees a date in writing.
Completion may be affected by parts availability, stone sourcing, manufacturer service, complexity, or other circumstances.
## 11. REPAIR PICKUP
Customers should retain their repair receipt or claim ticket.
Paul Jewelers may require identification and/or the repair receipt before releasing valuable merchandise.
For security purposes, we may decline to release merchandise to an individual who cannot reasonably establish authorization to receive it.
## 12. UNCLAIMED REPAIRS
Customers are responsible for providing current contact information and collecting completed merchandise promptly after notification.
Any treatment of merchandise left unclaimed for an extended period will be handled in accordance with applicable Maryland law. Nothing in this policy authorizes Paul Jewelers to dispose of customer property contrary to applicable law.
## 13. WATCH REPAIRS & MANUFACTURER WARRANTIES
Certain watches may be covered by warranties issued by their manufacturer rather than Paul Jewelers.
Manufacturer warranty claims may need to be handled through the manufacturer or an authorized service center.
Opening, modifying, or repairing a watch outside an authorized service network may affect the manufacturer's warranty.
## 14. PROOF OF PURCHASE
Proof of purchase may be required for warranty-related service on merchandise originally purchased from Paul Jewelers.
## 15. JEWELRY CARE
To help protect your jewelry:
- Remove jewelry during heavy physical activity.
- Avoid exposing jewelry to harsh chemicals.
- Store pieces separately to reduce scratching.
- Have frequently worn fine jewelry inspected periodically.
- Have loose stones or damaged prongs repaired promptly.
- Follow any special care instructions applicable to your jewelry.
## 16. INSURANCE
A warranty is not a substitute for jewelry insurance.
Customers should consider separate insurance coverage for risks such as theft, loss, accidental damage, disappearance, and other events not covered by a manufacturer's or store warranty.
## 17. YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS
Any warranty or limitation described in this policy applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in this policy is intended to eliminate warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
